About Vision Components GmbH
Vision Components is a market leader in the field of intelligent Smart Cameras for machine vision and are continually developing their products to meet the specific demands of their customers and making their production more efficient. After more than 20 years experience in developing industrial cameras, CEO Michael Engel is still as enthusiastic and passionate about pushing the development of the technology even further and together with his team, setting new limits to what is feasible. Our customers hold Vision Components in high regard, not least because of their special flexibility and excellent service quality. The company has its headquarters in Ettlingen, Germany and nowadays concentrates on its core competences: designing and developing VC cameras as well as supporting them with relevant software and operating systems. VC are represented globally by a network of distributors and their name is synonymous with top-class quality across the globe.
Image processing thrives on speed. The faster the images are captured and processed and the more pixels that can be processed per second, the better. Driven by this motivating force, VC set the trends for hardware and software development for our Smart Cameras. VC cameras have resolutions of up to several mega pixels, in both black-and-white and colour and are able to take more than 100 frames per second with simultaneous imaging and image processing. They have a serial RS232 and Ethernet interface.

Many users can hardly believe that the computing power of Smart Cameras is comparable or even better than that of conventional PC-based image processing systems and therefore often underestimate their possible applications. But it is obvious in practice that all industrial image processing applications can be resolved just as well or even more efficiently with intelligent cameras. The fact that Smart Cameras can manage without an additional PC means that there are no PC operating, maintenance and upgrade costs. They do not need a control cabinet and are more reliable, because they contain neither fans nor hard disks. They also have real-time and network capability.
