The benefits of telecentric
Telecentric lenses give the best possible optics for industrial measurement and inspection of 3D objects. Combined with the vicotar industrial telecentric lighting accurate measurements can be made of precision components, especially shiny and curved parts. The wide-field telecentric lenses allow un-rivalled image sizes for large object inspection. Use of cutting edge lens technology keeps lenses light, as compact as possible and cost effective.
As telecentric imaging is perspective free inspection of 3D objects can be accurately irrespective of depth. Examples include inspection of the bottom of cylinders, deep drill holes, meshes and measurement of deep or thick parts.
Examples:
A cylindrical metal object:
Under normal (entocentric) lens and diffuse back light
Notice the light "bleeding" around the edges of the part - this will make accurate measurement difficult, especially if the part can move within the field of view |
Using a telecentric lens and light the edges become sharply defined with a very high contrast |

Glass objects
Telecentric lighting & lens allows this clear glass tube to be seen as a high contrast image
The only light transmitted through the glass is where it can pass through two parallel surfaces |
