Machine vision lighting

The reliability of industrial Machine Vision solutions is highly dependent on the arrangement of the lighting. The choice of the correct lighting components is paramount and leads to a logical selection of the appropriate optics and camera system. At the same time, the lighting and optics should be optimally matched to each other in order to be able to stand up to everyday production conditions. The Vision Control Component System enables the perfect choice of appropriate lighting and optics for each test object. It provides a robust, high-precision long-lived industrial solution.

The electronics:

Vicolux lighting comes equipped with integrated control as standard. The brightness can be manually adjusted via a potentiometer or set by application of a control voltage (0 to 10 VDC). In addition, the lighting can be switched on and off via an optically de-coupled PLC input at down to 10 µs. Even high-speed processes are no problem with these high-intensity colour lighting units.

Power flash - for high-speeds


Successful MV in high-speed processes demands extremely large
amounts of light on the shortest time-scale. The necessary electronics and control possibilities are integrated into vicolux power flash lighting units and provide lag-free flash lighting in the range from 0.5 µs to 100 µs. Additional flash controllers are superfluous and EMV problems are unknown.
The flash duration and brightness can be manually set or controlled via PLC. Compatible with industrial plant via optically de-coupled trigger inputs that can withstand everything from TTL to PLC levels.

Adaptive - lighting that is flexible in time and space

The answer to complex, complicated and frequently changing lighting situations is an adaptive vicolux lighting unit. Whether as ring-lighting or area lighting, in incident or transmitted lighting, adaptive lighting provides a brightness profile that can be precisely tailored to the application.
The programming of each individual LED is carried out via the VCWin user interface or with a separate user interface via mouse-click as well as by helpful root functions. Rapid communication with the vision system is taken care of by USB or Ethernet. Intelligent adaptive lighting lends itself particularly to laboratory or industrial applications. In addition, adaptive lighting can be used with optically de-coupled PLC/TTL inputs and switched down to the µs range.
Uses include: compensation of optical vignetting of the lens, suppression of troublesome reflections, homogeneous lighting of heavily structured objects and surfaces as well as reacting to changing lighting conditions.

Wide range input voltage:

vicolux lighting operates via an operating voltage range of 10 to 36 VDC, voltage fluctuations are regulated by an integrated circuit.

The mechanics:

Robust, industry-compatible design, dust-sealed sturdy black anodised aluminium housing or lightweight industrial polyamide protects from the tough working environment. The cables are oil-resistant, dragline compatible and have high resistance to repeated bending and stretching. Installation into cramped conditions can be done via 90 degree beam deflection units. The best heat-removal and vibrations-resistant components ensure an operational lifetime of over 50,000 hours
